ISDN

ISDN stands for Integrated Services Digital Network, where an analogue service can be upgraded to a digital service, with speed and bandwidth advantages. There are two main configurations on offer:

1. Basic Rate Interface (2 digital lines)

This is a digital service that can replace your conventional analogue telephone line. With a basic rate interface you will be able to continue making normal telephone or fax calls while you use the Internet or send data. And, in most cases, you will even be able to keep your existing telephone number.

This service can upgrade your analogue line to two digital lines to cater for everyone from home users to small businesses and branch offices of large corporations.
Each digital connection can carry both voice and data services.
A greater bandwidth - 2 x 64Kbps or 128Kbps up for quick safe and clear transfer of data including graphics, studio-quality videos and large data files plus speedy Internet and email access.
Only one service connection is required for telephones, faxes and computers allowing people to work remotely in the field or at home.
Video conferencing facilities with live full-colour, two-way video, audio and data communication.

2. Primary Rate Interface
(10, 20 or 30 digital lines)

This is a digital service that can provide enhanced functionality and replace conventional analogue telephone lines. With the primary rate interface ISDN service you will be able to connect your PABX, use the Indial facility for all your incoming traffic, both voice and data. You may also dedicate a few of the channels for Video conferencing.

This service is available in configurations of 10,20 or 30 channels, which makes it suitable for both small and large applications. Typical applications include call centres, Internet service providers and large companies with a requirement for 100's of incoming/outgoing extensions.

Each service has the ability to independently or simultaneously use separate channels for voice and data calls.
A greater bandwidth - from 64Kbps to 30 x 64Kbps for digital voice clarity and reliable data transmissions, including graphics, studio-quality videos and large data files.
Video and audio-conferencing capability.
